On Sunday 11/07/2021 we performed the sixth data acquisition for PLP2021. Sentinel 2 multispectral data of the two large area targets were acquired, along with very high resolution images from a DJI Phantom 4 pro drone. The drone team also for the first time flew under windy conditions with the team’s new DJI Phantom 4 pro RTK drone, equipped with an on-board, high-accuracy RTK GPS module. Wind speed and direction, incident light intensity and turbidity metadata were collected. We made some minor repairs to the targets and assessed the condition of the tethering ropes and fastenings. Biofouling accumulation is becoming much denser, covering larger areas of the HDPE target and effectively changing the colour of the white HDPE mesh. We are expecting to see the biofouling effects on the HDPE mesh signature in the Sentinel 2 signal. Conditions were very windy, with gusts of up to 10 m/sec (5-6 Beaufort), with no cloud cover over the deployment area.
