The PLP2023’s official acquisition period kicked off on Saturday 1st of July. Square HDPE tarp and wooden planks targets, of 1, 2 and 3 m2 in size are deployed at our dedicated infrastructure in the Gulf of Gera. The HDPE tarp targets had been deployed separately for two acquisitions, to close a measurement gap from our previous experiment. This year’s project is aimed at the Planet Super Dove satellites, working towards smaller FML patch detection. Initially we are trying to define a visibility threshold, above which FML concentrations are discernible in a 3×3 m2 pixel. We will continue to gather Sentinel-2 data to further our database of in situ validated FML target containing scenes.
